Patenet Prosecution Highway(PPH) Program between Japan and Hangary

The Japan Patent Office (JPO) and the Hungarian Patent Office (HPO) agreed to commence the Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) Pilot Program on August 3, 2009, at the HPO/JPO Heads Meeting held in Budapest on June 30, 2009. From August 3, the applicants may request an accelerated examination in both countries in accordance with the PPH program.

Hungary is the tenth country with which Japan has implemented the PPH pilot program, after the U.S., the U.K., Korea, Germany, Denmark, Finland, Russia, Austria, and Singapore. The combined total of the patent applications in these ten countries and Japan make up 65% of all patent applications in the world. As the PPH network expands, we believe that the intellectual property rights will be granted faster by an accurate examination worldwide.
