Kyoto Office Warriors
The other day, we went to Chushojima in Fushimi-ku to visit a company.
We, Kyoto Office Warriors, are not afraid of heat or effort for our customers!
In this photograph, the person on the right is the assistant manager of the Kyoto Office and the person on the left is the deputy president of Soei.
I asked them to stop walking for a moment so I could take a picture but it looks as if they’re walking hand in hand…
Chushojima is where Teradaya is. Teradaya is the famous inn where Sakamoto Ryoma (a very popular historical figure who played a key role in overthrowing the Tokugawa Shogunate and contributed to the modernization of Japan) was attacked under the orders of the Fushimi bugyo, a government commissioner.
Personally, I don’t really know much about Ryoma, but the historic scenery of Horikawa, the river that Oryo (Ryoma’s wife) is said to have let Ryoma escape from, the line of willow trees and the old wooden houses is quite amazing.
Actually, when we arrived at Chushojima and were looking at our map, a woman came up and started telling us how to get to Teradaya.
“I’m afraid that’s not where we’re going…”
“It’s not? Oh, please forgive me,” (in a lovely Kyoto accent).
Kyoto accent is somehow always soothing.
