The round green thing in this photo is a tomato growing in our balcony.
We care and tend for it, calling it Tomakichi.
I think it was in May that we bought the plant at a home center in Kyoto.
My wife and I took good care of it and despite the strong sunshine we had this summer, July, August and September came and went and autumn deepened but there was still no sign of Tomakichi growing any further.
Finally in October, when we were just about to give up hope that it will ever produce any fruit, a flower came out and it has grown to a fruit this size. (The only one so far.)
It’s now November.
I wonder if we’ll ever see Tomakichi served on our table…. I’ll wait and see without expecting too much.
