Last year, Mr. M wrote about the four-leaf taxis in Kyoto on this blog.
This is another story about them by me, W.
That day, it was quite hot so I went into a convenience store to buy an ice cream.
As I was standing in front of the ice cream corner wondering what to get, I heard one of the store staff say, “Oh, there’s a four-leaf clover!”
I rushed out of the store right away and took a photo. I knew that if you rode in one, they gave you a commemorative certificate, so I ran after it hoping to get one.
Unfortunately, it was already occupied.
It’s been two years since I took my post in Kyoto and during this time I have seen the four-leaf taxi three times, including this one that I’m writing about.
But on all three occasions, I noticed them only because a nearby stranger called it out.
I hope I will find one myself some day.
As for the ice cream, I bought one at a different store having run after the taxi.
I’m afraid I didn’t buy anything at the first store even though it was the staff there that told me about the taxi. Sorry!
